WRITEUP
CAPESIZE
Following the positive finish to last week, the market began the new week on a slightly mixed footing, with the Pacific easing while the Atlantic held onto a firmer undertone. The BCI 182 5TC slipped by $684 to close at $36,946, reflecting softer sentiment in the Pacific despite healthy volumes. The Pacific started the week on a softer note, with early reports of one major miner fixing around $11.65 on a couple of occasions before another miner was linked to low $12s, although details remained somewhat sketchy. Despite two C5 miners active throughout the day, the C5 index declined by $0.565 to close at $11.875. The Atlantic opened in a more subdued but generally positive fashion following the stronger finish to last week. Fixtures on C3 concluded late on Friday were reported around the $32.50 level, while today's market was characterised by bids around $32.00 on index dates against offers in the mid-$33s. The C3 index nevertheless edged higher by $0.432 to $32.150, suggesting underlying support remains.

PANAMAX
The market today has edged slightly lower across both basins with the P5TC index declining by $328 to $18,532. Sentiment in the Atlantic remains mixed with some sources reporting fixtures concluded above previous levels, while others note that there has been talk of US Gulf trans Atlantic grain voyages fixed at softer rates. Market participants have observed that although there has been some fresh trans Atlantic enquiry, the tonnage list no longer appears as tight as it did last week. The fronthaul market is reflecting a similarly uncertain tone with views split on direction, some suggesting the market is simply pausing as both Owners and Charterers take stock and look to gauge clearer direction for the week ahead. In the Pacific brokers report an uptick in activity today but while the North Pacific volumes appear relatively stable, a sustained recovery will likely depend on stronger cargo flows out of Australia.

Atlantic
The scrubber fitted GCL Lazaro (82,447 2023) open in Pecem 8 July was said to have fixed a NC South America trans Atlantic run to Bunge at $31,000 with the scrubber benefit to be equally shared. The Maria S (75,124 2012) open Ennore 16 June was said to have fixed for an EC South America fronthaul but no other information surfaced. The HSL Vegas (81,981 2022) Dangjin 16 June was said to have fixed an EC South America trip to the Far East basis delivery passing Singapore on the 26 June at $21,250, but the details of the charterer did not materialise.

Asia
The Crimson Kingdom (84,860 2016) open Tokuyama 23-24 June was said to have been placed on subjects, while Messrs Jera were said to have placed on subjects the Glory Eagle (95,349 2012) coming open Rizhao 24-25 June for a trip at $16,500. Panocean were also reported to be on subjects for their Newcastle to Japan 7 July stem.

SUPRAMAX
A typical Monday start for the market with little fresh information and only some of last week's fixtures slowly coming to light. The Atlantic remained rather subdued and limited fresh activity was recorded from key areas such as the US Gulf, although some felt stronger numbers were being achieved from the South Atlantic. From Asia, brokers said the market remained subdued after the Dragon Boat Festival on Friday followed by the weekend. The 11TC average started the week in negative fashion down $41 to $21,674.

Atlantic
The LDC relet Othrys (63,596 2021) was reported fixed delivery Gibraltar for a trip via Morocco redelivery India intention fertilizers at $24,000, however it was believed that the fixture had actually been concluded on voyage basis, and that this was a time charter equivalent. The charterer connected to this fixture was OPC and a source suggested that they may have fixed 5 vessels last week on the same route.

Asia
The Dato Fortune (52,454 2005) Zhoushan 25 June was said to have been placed on subjects for a trip redelivery Red Sea at $26,000 with Hanson.

HANDYSIZE
It was a typical Monday with a slow start to the week. The BHSI edged up by 2 points to 936, while the 7TC average increased by $35 to close at $16,839. In the Atlantic, the Continent and Mediterranean regions held steady, although market information remained limited as usual. The South Atlantic and US Gulf remained firm, with limited vessel supply and consistent demand pushing rates above previous levels. Across Asia, the market was generally flat, with direction dependent on the pace of fresh demand. In terms of fixtures, the Legiony Polskie (39,071 2016) was fixed to the Continent via COGH at close to $18,000 by Seanet, while the Darya Krishna (34,874 2016) open Singapore was fixed to the Far East with alumina at $20,500 by Cargill, although further details were lacking. The Ardennes (36,062 2013) open Osaka on 23 June was fixed for a trip to the Continent on a split rate basis in the low $18,000s. The Olympia Logger (33,263 2010) was fixed for a trip via Indonesia to the US Gulf in the mid $18,000s, although further details were not disclosed.
